Situated in Southeastern Europe, Bulgaria occupies the northeastern part of the Balkan Peninsula. Bulgaria is a member of NATO since 2004, and has gained EU membership on the 1st of January, 2007.
Neighboring, among others, Romania, Greece, Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia and Turkey, Bulgaria enjoys the benefits of the Black Sea coastline, with flourishing summer sea tourism and spectacular mountains for winter attractions.
Sofia (population 1.4 million, ranked 97th in Mercer’s survey of the most expensive cities in the world), the country’s capital located in the west of Bulgaria, is home to many important international IT companies and continues to expand its business appeal.
Varna (population 350,000), third largest city, the gem of the Bulgarian Black Sea is situated at the end of the big Varna Bay, with a convenient and well conserved water area.
